AMBITION

Ambition took her
To that high window –
She flew through it,
And broke.

You could say
Ambition broke her,
Shattered her plan
To be the first…

The first in eons
To lift the lid
Of Pandora’s box.

‘Free us! Free us!’
A buzzing swarm
Of women’s secrets.

Too heavy for one,
So she looked about
For a man of power.

Wrong choice.
He picked her up
And threw her away.
